Brief History of This Drumhead
Artist and sign painter Eddie Stokes created The Beatles' first Drop-T logo drumhead. This is number one of seven and was commissioned by Ivor Arbiter, owner of Drum City in London, for five pounds (UK). The head was completed and installed on Ringo's brand-new 1963 Ludwig oyster black pearl Downbeat model drum kit and delivered to him on May 12, 1963. The 20” smooth white drumhead has a Ludwig script logo decal at the top, Ludwig Weather Master Bass rum labels at the bottom, and a hand-painted Beatles logo. This drumhead was used exclusively on Ringo’s 1963 Ludwig Downbeat model drum kit.
